Introduction
This tutorial will introduce you to molecular visualization by exploring the properties of two simple hydrocarbons -- methane and cyclohexane.
There are two general ways in which to represent molecular models. Structural visualizations show the connectivity of a molecule by displaying atoms and bonds at a small scale or structural motifs at a large scale. Surface models attempt to show the space that a molecule occupies. Both representations can be used in the same visualization and properties can be highlighted with color.
3D molecular visualization can be a great aid to some learners. Paired with rich context, accessibility features and interactive controls, our goal is to help all learners enjoy the amazing world of biochemistry!
